Swimming Gear

Swim Gear

There are many items that you can purchase in order to enhance your swimming experience. You could buy a snorkel if you want to stay in the water for a period of time, while of course staying close to the surface. If you should choose to swim with a snorkel and take it underwater then be sure to remove the snorkel from your mouth before you inhale once you reach the surface in order to avoid breathing in water that entered the snorkel while you were underwater. Another option for swim gear is flippers, or swim fins. Flippers are typically made of rubber and attach to your feet. They elongate your legs and look like webbed feet. This increases your swimming speed and decreases how much work you need to do. They are mainly functional in underwater swimming, often used by scuba divers. Goggles are another popular option for swim gear. They cover the eyes and block out the water, making it easier to see underwater and protecting the eyes from salt water, chlorine, particles or anything else in water that could irritate the eyes. Nose clips are also available for those who have difficulty keeping water out of their noses when they go underwater. Swim caps are available to both keep a swimmer’s hair dry if they so desire as well as keeping the sun off of bald heads.

Kid Swim Gear

Some of the most important swim gear you can get for kids are floatation devices. There are life jackets and vests in smaller sizes for kids, inflatable devices that fit around the waist, and water wings. Water wings are inflatable and fit around the child’s upper arms, keeping the top half of his or her body above the water level. Pool toys are also popular options for kids. There are thousands of options of pool toys. If the child is able to swim and old enough to go under water, diving toys can provide hours of entertainment. They come in different shapes, often rings or sticks, are made of plastic and the material wants to float, but they are weighted down in one spot, so the toys stay at the bottom of the pool but stand upright, making grasping them easier.

Baby Swim Gear

Do you want to take your baby swimming? Swim diapers are available, and will be appreciated by the people around you. There are also floating seats that can hold your baby and they are available with a shading device, such as an umbrella, to keep the sun off of baby’s sensitive skin.
