Since the Boston marathon is both prestigious and historical, winning it, or even placing in it, is a great achievement. Over the years, many different people have won the marathon, and there have been few repeats because the sport is so physically taxing. The results are on the internet for many of the winners since the race first started, but there are some of the results here so that they are all in one place for you if you are doing research on Boston Marathon results.

2005 Boston Marathon Results

In 2005, Hailu Negussie won the male division. He is from Showa, Ethiopia and finished with a time of 2:11:45. After him in the Boston Marathon results, Wilson Onsare from Nairobi, Kenya, finished with a time of 2:12:48. Following these two fine runners were (in order of finish from third to tenth place were: Benson Cherono finishing at 2:12:48 from Baringo, Kenya, Alan Culpepper who finished with a time of 2:13:39 from Lafayette, CO, USA, Robert Kipkoech Cheruiyot with a time of 2:14:30 from the Nandi District in Kenya, Timothy Cherigat with a time of 2:15:19 from Chepkorio, Kenya, Benjamin Kipchumba with a time of 2:15:26 from Marakwet, Kenya, Andrew Letherby with a time of 2:16:38 from Adelaide, Australia, Mohamed Ouaadi with a time of 2:16:41 from Marseilles, France and Peter Gilmore with a time of 2:17:32 from San Mateo, CA, USA.

As for the women, Catherine Ndereba finished the 2005 Boston Marathon in first place with a time of 2:25:13. She comes from Nairobi, Kenya. After her, in second place in the Boston Marathon Results, was Elfenesh Alemu from Arsi, Ethiopia, with a time of 2:27:03. Following these two competitive, admirable women in order from third to tenth place were: Bruna Genovese with a time of 2:29:51 from Volpago Del Montello, Italy, Svetlana Zakharova with a time of 2:31:34 hailing from Cheboksary, Russian Federation, Madina Biktagirova with a time of 2:32:41 from Albufeira, Portugal, Lyubov Morgunova with a time of 2:33:24 from Moscow, Russian Federation, Shitaye Gemechu with a time of 2:33:51 from Chancho, Ethiopia, Zhor El Kamch with a time of 2:36:54 from Tifelt, Morocco, Mina Ogawa with a time of 2:37:34 from Tokyo, Japan, and Nuta Olaru with a time of 2:37:37 from Craiova, Romania.

Results 1986 Boston Marathon

Cash prizes were first awarded in 1986 to those who placed in the Boston Marathon results. Robert de Castella from Australia set a course record with a time of 2:07:51. Meanwhile, Igrid Kristiansen from Norway won the women’s division with a time of 2:24:55.
