Bikini Swimming Suits
It was back in the 1940’s when the first bikini swimsuit for women appeared on the market. Considered a risqué item at the time, the two piece bikini became commonplace during the 1960’s and was an integral part of the beach culture of the time. While most people did not think much about the role of the bikini, other than being a great way to attract the attention of men, the female bikini actually had a lot more going for it. Here are some reasons why the bikini appeals on several levels to both the wearer and to the watcher.
Bikini swimwear has remained a perennial favorite for several decades now. Originally, the bikini was embroiled in more than making a fashion statement. Some women chose to wear bikini swimsuits as a declaration of the right to independent thinking and equality. Surely if it were appropriate for men to wear swimsuits that did not include a shirt, why could a woman not wear a two piece bikini and enjoy at least some of the same level of freedom? It is interesting to note that early on there were some municipalities that imposed fines on any woman wearing bikini swim wear, up to and including being hauled to jail on indecency charges. Slowly, that situation changed over time, and various versions of the bikini bathing suit became acceptable attire at the beach and pool. Today, the political issue is more or less a thing of the past. Still, many good reasons for wearing a bikini swimsuit still remain.

One enduring reason for the success of the bikini swimsuit is that it is very practical. From the perspective of being able to move in the water, bikini bathing suits are much more comfortable than the older body style suits they largely displaced. Bikini swimwear is cooler on a hot summer beach, and certainly allows for a better tan line. Many women would not think about setting foot on a beach without a bikini today, simply because of the comfort level.
Another reason that bikini swimming suits remain popular has to do with good old-fashioned sex. Many people love to see a beautiful female in a bikini. And there are quite a few women that enjoy the attention that a sexy bikini brings to them. The high sales of magazines that feature the bikini and swimsuit models for the new season attest to the fact that people love to look and some people love to give people something to look at. From the thong bikini swimsuit to the G string bikini swimwear, sometimes the whole point of the bikini is to be attractive.
Today, bikini swimming suits are not just for adult women. There are plenty of examples of girls junior bikini swimwear, bikini swim wear for toddlers, and even maternity bikini swimwear. Not to be outdone, mens bikini swimwear has been popular in many countries and over the last couple of decades has gained ground in the United States as well. As with adult women, men’s bikini swimwear is not meant for everyone, but for the man in reasonably good shape, a bikini may look quite flattering.
